YouTube 4 Teens Strikes Again!

You can learn a great deal about a person by simply watching their YouTube channel. That is precisely what we discovered when YouTube 4 Teens student Roman Stalls finished his first course. He submitted his final YouTube project and is now on his way to achieving YouTube fame and fortune.

FS4T subscribed to this very talented teens’ YouTube channel and discovered everything from his precision stunts to his dog's antics at 4 am, his perfect football spiral, and even outrunning a drone at full speed. With over 340 videos, Roman’s channel has it all.

Roman’s Story We caught up with Roman in his home in Palm Bay, Florida, via Zoom. He had just gotten yet another creative haircut (this time it was braids) and was eager to share his story with us. Roman shares how Palm Bay is a great place to live, but sometimes you have to endure a few very intense thunderstorms, of which he just survived the day before. (You can see a video of that on his YouTube Channel)

.

The Inspiration Behind It All We asked him about his inspiration for his videos, and he said that it is primarily the things he does that day. Sometimes, he sees someone else's good video and tries to use it as inspiration for his videos. Some of his videos feature activities he enjoys doing in his spare time. Roman can be seen in many videos performing various stunts, such as front and back flips, playing video games, and occasionally showcasing trips he has taken. Roman shares a

story about one of his short videos, which he posted and received over 12,000 views. It was of an African Serval and a bobcat playing at the local wildlife park.  He is not sure why he got that much attention, but he said he will take it.  His most recent “storm video” has garnered over 1,500 views. His advice is to find what you love and put it on YouTube. He said he is not sure why some of his videos get more views than others, but he did notice that some with simple and straightforward hashtags seem to help.

Creating Consistent Content Roman had already started his YouTube channel the previous year, but then this fall, his mother purchased the YouTube 4 Teens course to enhance his homeschooling learning. He told us that it was that course that helped him realize the importance of consistency. He learned various techniques that helped him take his channel to the next level. Some of the things he mentioned included how to create compelling titles and the importance of high-quality audio. Primarily, the course helped him return to creating content on a more consistent basis. Another thing Roman learned was that he did not need to invest in expensive equipment. He reports that his phone and iPad do just fine.

Roman’s goal in the coming years is to continue creating content he loves, and he wants to begin narrowing down his theme based on the audience he is building. His goal is to reach 1000 subscribers in the next year. He would also like to improve at posting creative and engaging thumbnails for his videos.

Final Advice As for advice for teens like himself who want to start a YouTube channel, Roman advises being prepared for a lot of editing. He said this mainly to emphasize the fact that it does take time and hard work. “Be proud of your videos,” he said. We are incredibly proud of you, Roman, and especially proud to have played a small part in your success with the FS4T online course.
